When moving up into a new role suddenly does not happen any longer is a scary realization. Before you were simply asked to take on bigger roles.

Does this sound familiar?
You have been steadily moving up into a middle management position, team responsibility and accumulating skills over the past couple of years. Now would be a good time to move into this director role, but somehow it does not happen. Your appraisals are good, even above expectations. Your manager likes you and supports you.
What is missing?

Showing up with the extra work hours and raising your hand for extra projects to create visibility has been positively noticed by your manager but not really resulted in anything. Taking the extra networking connect and maybe even a self branding test from the internet does not seem to do the trick either.
Well meaning conversations with colleagues and friends about how their career path has evolved and how you should be simply be a bit more pushy or patient are helpful but somehow missing your individual situation.
